US president BARACK OBAMA nominated Indian American Renee Ramaswamy , a Bharata Natayam exponent to the Prestigous national council of the arts for a five year term on march 22, 2013. The national council of the art advises the chairman of the national Endowment for the art, who also chairs the council, on agencies policies and Programmes.It reviews and make recommendations to the chairman on applications for grants, funding guidelines and leadership initiatives.
In 2011, She was chosen as the Mckinght foundation distinguished artist. Ranee and co-artistic director Aparna Ramaswamy were named the 2011 artist of the year , bt minnepolis star tribune.....
